When you think of  a gamer does the picture of a dude dressed sloppily, in grunge clothes, with a few days worth of facial growth sitting in a  dimly lit dorm room, amidst the glow of the computer screen surrounded by empty junk food containers  playing video games come to mind?

Would it surprise you to learn that women are the majority  of who is playing video games at 52%?(Jayanth 2014) "By the time a student is 21 years old,  she will play nearly 10,000 hours of video games." (Dwyer 2011)    "The reality is that the most popular gaming device today is the smart phone, and the most popular genres are puzzle, trivia and word games" played by women.(Jayanth 2014)

Gamification. What is it? Gamification is taking the mechanics of game playing and using them in a non game environment. "This buzzword emerged only in the twenty-first century but has already found its way into writing on business, marketing, psychology, and design."(Bruder 2015)
